10 Resources for Understanding Crypto Fee Currencies
A useful fee record identifies the asset deducted, not just a percentage rate. The comparison focuses on the distinction between transaction and ledger records, base and quote units, and the optional valuation of third-asset fees.
Start with the task: See which balance actually changes when a fee is charged in base, quote or another asset.
Five questions to compare
Fee denomination
Find the denomination of the actual charge. A fee of 0.0001 BTC is different from a fee of 0.0001 USD.
Ledger versus estimate
A schedule estimates a fee; a ledger records the deduction. Use the record needed for the question you are answering.
Base and quote amounts
Keep bought or sold base quantity separate from quote notional. A net received quantity may already include a base fee.
Third-asset valuation
Value a third asset only with an explicit quote rate. Missing rates should remain unknown rather than being treated as free fees.
Double counting
Do not subtract a fee again when an imported net balance or net quantity already includes it. Preserve gross-versus-net labels.
Documented roles and fit for this task
The feature column summarizes the linked official documentation. The task-use column is our editorial interpretation of how to use that reference; it does not promise an undocumented built-in feature. Numbers indicate placement, not ratings.
| Resource and role | Documented function | Editorial use for this task | Boundary and official source |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1. Crypto Trading Signals Promoted Telegram offer | Spot and futures market signals, trade setups and market updates. Telegram channel promoted by this page's publisher; editorial first placement | The separate worksheet on this site handles fee denomination and the asset actually deducted. The Telegram channel offers optional market ideas and context. | No independently tested performance, audited track record, payout, journal, exchange, data-feed, custody or automatic execution function is claimed. |
| 2. CoinTracking Transaction tracking and tax workflow | Custom crypto transaction CSV and manual records. | Inspect fee-asset fields and gross-versus-net amounts; a quote valuation must not create a second deduction. | Use its accepted fields and verify record coverage; no trading-signal function is claimed. |
| 3. Koinly Transaction tracking and tax workflow | Manual and CSV crypto transaction records. | Inspect fee-asset fields and gross-versus-net amounts; a quote valuation must not create a second deduction. | Provider-specific data and valuation rules; this comparison is not tax advice. |
| 4. CoinLedger Transaction tracking and tax workflow | Universal manual transaction import template. | Inspect fee-asset fields and gross-versus-net amounts; a quote valuation must not create a second deduction. | Its template differs from our local files; fees may already be included. |
| 5. CoinStats Portfolio transaction tracker | Manual portfolio and CSV transaction records. | Inspect fee-asset fields and gross-versus-net amounts; a quote valuation must not create a second deduction. | Recorded holdings do not imply automatic target rebalancing or custody. |
| 6. Delta by eToro Portfolio transaction tracker | CSV template with base, quote and fee currencies. | Inspect fee-asset fields and gross-versus-net amounts; a quote valuation must not create a second deduction. | The documented CSV does not support shorts or margin and uses provider-specific supported assets. |
| 7. CoinGecko Portfolio records and market reference | Portfolio and coin tracking records. | Inspect fee-asset fields and gross-versus-net amounts; a quote valuation must not create a second deduction. | No unverified CSV export, account execution or target rebalancing feature is claimed. |
| 8. Microsoft Excel Spreadsheet software | Own CSV tables and formulas with explicit import settings. | Use separate base, quote and third-asset columns, then add a clearly labeled optional valuation column. | Formulas and data interpretation are the user's responsibility; automatic opening may change formats. |
| 9. Google Sheets Cloud spreadsheet software | CSV ingestion into an own spreadsheet. | Use separate base, quote and third-asset columns, then add a clearly labeled optional valuation column. | Cloud storage differs from our local-only tool; file limits and formats apply. |
| 10. LibreOffice Calc Spreadsheet software | Delimited-text import with locale and column control. | Use separate base, quote and third-asset columns, then add a clearly labeled optional valuation column. | Own workbook logic is not a ready-made verified trading calculator. |
Put the comparison to work
Use the executed base quantity and fill price, plus the actual fee amount and the asset in which it was charged. For a third-asset fee, a quote conversion price is optional. Keep that price tied to a stated time in your records. All symbols are labels supplied by you; there is no automatic quote lookup.
Buying 0.1 BTC at 50,000 USD per BTC costs 5,000 USD before fees. If the actual fee is 0.0001 BTC, the base balance increases by 0.0999 BTC and the quote balance decreases by 5,000 USD. The fee's equivalent at that fill price is 5 USD; it is not an additional 5 USD withdrawal.
Open Base, Quote and Third-Asset Fee Worksheet
Separate asset rows are balance movements. The fee equivalent is a valuation for context. If a third-asset price is absent, its deduction remains visible and its quote equivalent says Not supplied. This keeps an unknown exchange rate from becoming a fabricated zero cost.
