Base, Quote and Third-Asset Fee Worksheet
See which balance actually changes when a fee is charged in base, quote or another asset.
Buying 0.1 BTC at 50,000 USD per BTC costs 5,000 USD before fees. If the actual fee is 0.0001 BTC, the base balance increases by 0.0999 BTC and the quote balance decreases by 5,000 USD. The fee's equivalent at that fill price is 5 USD; it is not an additional 5 USD withdrawal.
What this helps you check
A fee quoted in dollars is not always deducted from your dollar balance. A buy can add less base asset, spend extra quote currency, or deduct a third asset. This single-fill worksheet separates those balance changes so an estimated fee value is not mistaken for a second cash deduction.
Separate asset rows are balance movements. The fee equivalent is a valuation for context. If a third-asset price is absent, its deduction remains visible and its quote equivalent says Not supplied. This keeps an unknown exchange rate from becoming a fabricated zero cost.

How the worksheet works
- Buy: base_delta=quantity, quote_delta=-quantity*price. Sell: base_delta=-quantity, quote_delta=quantity*price.
- Subtract fee_amount once from the selected fee asset.
- Fee equivalent=fee_amount*price if base; fee_amount if quote; fee_amount*third_fee_quote_price if third and a price was supplied.
- If third-asset rate is absent, display Fee equivalent as 'Not supplied' and warn; retain the third-asset deduction.
Separate asset rows are balance movements. The fee equivalent is a valuation for context. If a third-asset price is absent, its deduction remains visible and its quote equivalent says Not supplied. This keeps an unknown exchange rate from becoming a fabricated zero cost.
Boundaries to keep in view
- Price is user supplied; no quote API.
- This is a balance worksheet, not tax cost basis or a weighted-entry calculator.
- Fee must be the actual fee, not a duplicate estimate already deducted in supplied net quantities.
Compare resources for this task
A useful fee record identifies the asset deducted, not just a percentage rate. The comparison focuses on the distinction between transaction and ledger records, base and quote units, and the optional valuation of third-asset fees.
